Portugal will face Luxembourg in the World Cup qualifier next Wednesday. Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo’s team defeated Qatar, the host country of the 2022 World Cup, 3-0 in an international friendly match.
Returning to the national team after two matches, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has scored his 112th goal in international football. Portugal did not find Qatar at home on Sunday night.
They had possession of the ball for more than 60 percent of the entire match. They made at least 26 shots for the goal. Of which 10 were along the target. And success matched three times. On the other hand, Qatar managed to score only one shot in the entire match.
Despite repeated attacks, when the goal did not match, it seemed that the first half would be cut goalless. Ronaldo did not let that happen. In the 36th minute of the match, he easily found the address of the net from the front of the six-yard box. This is his 112th goal in international football. However, two minutes before the easy opportunity Ronaldo missed.
Jose Fonte doubled the lead in just three minutes back in the second half. Andre Silva hit the last nail in the coffin of Qatar in the very last minute of the allotted time.
