England expatriate striker Yusuf Zulkarnain has finally reached Dhaka today. Having set foot in Dhaka, he has joined the Abahani Limited Club under-23 national team camp.
Corona also gave samples for testing. He will join the practice only if he is ‘negative’ in it. BFF sources have confirmed the matter.
It was first learned that Yusuf is in the preliminary list of 35 people for the SAF Football Championship. The BFF also sought permission from the government to take the England expatriate footballer on a tour of the Maldives.
He did not get a place in the team of Oscar Brujon as the camp started with 26 players in the end. He was then placed in the 36-member preliminary squad for the AFC Under-23 Championship qualifiers. But he could not attend the camp which started on September 25 as he did not have a Bangladeshi passport.
Finally, after more than two weeks of camp, the forward, who played for Ipswich Town’s under-16 team in the third tier League One team of England, came to Dhaka.
Bangladesh will face Kuwait, Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia in Group D of the AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers.
After starting the match against Kuwait on October 25, Bangladesh will face Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia on October 28 and 31, respectively. The best runners-up with the 11-group champion team will get tickets to next year’s Asian Cup.
Uzbekistan will play directly as the host. Although there are 11 members of the national team in the youth team, it can be said that it is very difficult for Bangladesh to go to the next round.
